Hey everyone, I sadly don't have enough time for a full review section this week, so I'll just quickly recommend some stuff all across the genre:
Neuro
First off we've got the incredible Moshpit EP by bossman Redpill on Eatbrain, hide your shoes or you might lose them while listening to this. Also, there's got a Magnetude collab on there, that should tell you everything you need to know.
Next up we've got a double release by Neurofunk OG Audio, a new Killbox single and his remix of The Prototypes' venture into other a different tempo: Paradise. Both are heavily recommended, but as a Prototypes fanboi for lyfe I of course prefer the latter.
But this week didn't stop there. We've got a banging collab double single from Neonlight and State Of Mind, both some of my favorite DJs live and incredible producers, and a remix by none other than Mefjus, on Break and Total Science's Dog's Dinner.
If you're more of a "support the underground" kinda person there's also Dead Zodiac's double single Battalion. Very good stuff.
There's always more, but as I said, time's ticking.
Dancefloor
Neurofunk isn't the only subgenres with lots of stuff happening this week!
One-man band (well, not literally, because his band is three people, but you get what I mean) Fox Stevenson proves his song-writing and song-singing skills once again with the absolutely lovely Don't Care Crown on UKF's Pilot.
Newcomer Coastal proves with Don't Want Your Love / Here We Go on YANA Music (run by Toronto Is Broken) once again that you don't need to be a big name to release great dancefloor.
There's also a Matrix & Futurebound Remix of Tom Walker in the mix this week!
But we have to move on. Next genre.
Liquid
This week has it all. But the liquid releases have been especially incredible.
First off we got a new UKF release, this time by liquid legends Artificial Intelligence and Makoto. Cold Expanse sounds just like some of the best Dawn Wall tunes out there. Shocking, I know.
Then we've also got something slightly different, an MC focused album on Hospital Records. Legendary word smiths DRS and Dynamite MC got together with some of he finest Producers on the label and delivered an album that any hiphop and dnb fan would enjoy. Or at least I did. For a similar soulful vibe, but with less MCing I can also recommend Los Angeles based Atlantic Connection's new Justice EP.
Okay, enough well-known people, let's mention some upcoming artist releases.
Hoofbeats Music featured a very interesting new artist on their newest release: Variants' double single The Painter / Seasons shows how well the polish-czech duo can work with vocals. While the former is more of an emotional liquid ballad, the latter goes more into the uplifting dancefloor territory. Great stuff.
Lastly I want to mention I Wannabe - Space Lovers. Not your typical liquid. Or dnb even. A lot of analogue sounding synths that remind me a lot of Royalston, who I adore. All in all a very 70's/80's space/future atmosphere, if that makes sense.
Still not done, oof. Just one more genre to go though. You can do it!
Deep/Dark/Techy
Last but not least we got the deeper end of the spectrum that also blessed us with some gems this week.
First off we have Lost Recording's remix EP Lost: Remixed 002. Featuring the likes of, Kyrist, Manikin and Dedman, my expectations were already quite high before listening to it. Those have been smashed to pieces though. All of the remixes are great, but I especially enjoyed the Moytra remix.
Finally, we got another contender for the hidden gem award: Black Opps new Return Of The Samurai EP. Not just the samurai movie inspired title track is amazing, the rest of the EP can be fully recommended too.
Okay everyone, time's up. There's obviously more stuff than the ones I mentioned here (check the list below), but I'd have to write forever to cover all of them. I recommend every single release I covered here wholeheartedly.
